Plastic food storage containers may leach chemicals including Bisphenol A, dixoins, and phthalates into your food and drinks. These chemicals are carcinogenic and disrupt hormones.
Avoid polycarbonate containers (typically marked number 7 on the bottom). Heating plastic containers worsens the problem, so never microwave plastic containers or use them to store hot liquids. For storing food in the fridge, use glass or ceramic containers, like Pyrex or Corningware, which do not contain synthetic chemicals.
